An inspirational conversation with Tony Neal, a remarkable individual who embarked on an incredible journey within the NHSBSA Contact Centre.
Tony's story began when he secured a position in the newly established contact centre and soon enough a persistent feeling of unease crept in, making the days tougher to manage.
With immense courage and self-awareness, Tony sought an official diagnosis of autism, ADHD, and Tourette's. In 2018, he received his autism diagnosis, a pivotal moment that allowed him to embrace his true self and cast aside the burden of masking his autism.
His professional journey continued as he transitioned from call handling to the quality and knowledge team. He went on to become the Governance and Assurance Manager for the NHSBSA in January 2023, a significant turning point in his career.
Recognising his dedication and expertise, Tony successfully obtained a Co-Chair role within the Disability and Neurodiverse Network, where he collaborated with fellow co-chairs to support individuals with disabilities and neurodiverse needs.
In a crowning achievement, Tony became a Member of the Shadow Board for the NHSBSA in June 2022. This prestigious position, mirroring the NHSBSA Board, offered him a unique platform for leadership development and invaluable learning experiences at the highest level. He shattered expectations and proved that individuals like him can excel in positions of influence and responsibility!
